p h o t o    d i s p l a y

I am sure there is a better description for this but my kids are in the next room playing loudly so I can't think, so I am just going to call it a photo display. I should send them into the backyard since it is such a pretty day.

I bought this antique molding from a salvage store last week {I bought a ton of stuff, can't wait to show you}. My first instinct was to put hooks on it for a coat rack but the scale of the molding is small so I figured I would use some antique clothes pins that my friend Kathy got me.

I dry brushed the paint right over the pretty wood {walnut maybe?} then went back over with sanding block and took even more paint off after the paint had dried.

I laid my pins on the molding then took my hot glue gun and glued them right onto the board.
If you intend to use it as a display for something heavier than paper you could nail the pins in.

Isn't it cute? It would be a great way to display artwork, photos, or holiday cards.

I think it would be darling hanging in a window or over a bed.

This one is coming to the store with me this week!

k i t c h e n   i s   c o m i n g   t o g e t h e r

I promised to show you the progress on my kitchen this week. I finished sewing the sink skirt, the chalkboard back to the island and some curtains for the door.

I still need to paint all of the walls {I am trying to decide if I should go blue or green-I think blue}. I also need to touch up all of the baseboards in the entire kitchen, they are looking pretty ratty.

For the first time in the four years we have lived in this house I like the kitchen. It feels fun and bright. The home is a 1910 victorian farmhouse with really tall ceilings and the bright colors match the style of the home perfectly.

{Camden did this}

This week I have been so busy and I also feel like I have accomplished nothing. Do you have those weeks?

I actually needed this week to get my home in order, pay bills, run, spend time in prayer, give my kids and husband more hugs and I want to get my car cleaned {the last one is random but it needs to be done}.

Last week was a interesting week. I did the most sales I have ever done since selling furniture, but at the same time it was one of the toughest weeks for me in terms of being a businesswoman. I had three big tests.  I won't go into them but I have to say I came out of the week not doubting myself about my talents, how to stay strong in my business policies even if it means losing customers, a truer appreciation for my fellow shopmates, and a great deal of joy in the clients that I have that understand my hardwork.  I am learning that in life I can't win them all but I need to stay true to myself.
I need to have a thicker skin. There are going to be people who are going to use me, take advantage of me, steal my ideas, and just plan be mean to me. I am learning to understand that their feelings are valid but usually a projection of what is going on in their head and life.
In all of it I need to stay true to myself. And paint cool stuff :)

{all from Pinterest.com}

With that....thank you for sticking with me through the learning process of running a business.
{Although I think even if I am doing this for the next 20 years I will still learn new lessons everyday}.

m c c   s t a l k s   t h e   m l s

Now that summer is over and I have more time to blog {woohoo!} I will start back up sharing with my my mls finds.

What a darling home right?!! You can find the listing here.

It is such a warm home. The bathroom is my favorite room in this home.

I took a bit of a detour from redoing my kitchen to paint some things for the store.

Come see me at the store tomorrow! There is a great women's shopping event just a block up from us tomorrow and two of the Poppy and Co shop girls will be vendors so come see them too {and bring a big car to fill up with your finds!}.

f a r m h o u s e    t a b l e
{and I am redoing my kitchen colors because I am a crazy lady}

Should we start off with a white table coming to the store tomorrow?

Sweet, simple farmhouse petite table painted white, distressed and sealed with wax.

I also have for ladderback chairs to match that are already down at the store.

It could also be used as a cute desk {I have a chair for that at the store too}.

I was at one of my favorite stores Dwelling this week and they got some new Amy Butler fabric in. I fell in love with it and decided to change the whole color scheme of my kitchen.

Photo: LOVE the fabric I picked at Dwelling today. It goes perfectly with my living/family room. I am making pillows tomorrow. The leftover fabric goes to pillows for the store.

I then found this cherry double base table at a thrift store for $29 and decided to paint it an apple green {this is also a bit nutty}. I had the chairs in my basement waiting to go to the store but instead they are staying with me and will be reupholstered.

I also need to reskirt my sink. Oh do you see my new kitchen island? It is made from a dresser found on the side of the road this week. My friend Molly texted me about it after her friend Amy texted her a picture of it. I quickly went and picked it up. It needed love and the bottom drawer is wonky so I took it out and added baskets. I painted it the same apple green and I plan on chalkboarding the back so the kids can draw on it.

{I draped the fabric over the old fabric so you can see what it will sort of look like when I change out the black and white. Also, sorry I didn't clean my floors before taking this picture but in real life my floors are sometimes dirty :)}

{again sorry about the dirty floors I didn't know I was going to blog about my kitchen today or I would have cleaned it!}

I can't wait to show you the end result.
                                                             Now I need to go get sewing.

s t r i p e   c u r t a i n s    d o n e
{pictures taken with iphone, sorry!}

Just a quick little post to show you my new curtains made from West Elm shower curtains. The fabric is lovely sort of a cotton-linen blend.

I still need to adjust the center rod so the strips all match up across all windows.

I bought three curtains, cut and sewed them each down the middle and then measured to where it would hit the window sill and sewed a pocket for rods to feed through.

The color is the exact color of my walls, it was meant to be!

Can you spot the two new kittens? Henry and Hariett joined our family a few weeks ago.
They are bringing such joy to our family and I think they love us too.Photo: Harry and Henry

a n o t h e r    d r e s s e r ! ! !

Ok, ok I know you are all tired of my dresser makeovers-but- that is all I have been focused on the last few weeks. I want to get the store stocked for fall. This Friday we are having a customer appreciation party so we will be open 6-8pm and I am busting my booty to get my store filled with fun new things.

I finished this really simple yellow empire dresser, painted with yellow milk paint.
I like the warm yellow, it fits in with the fall vibe I am going with in my shop.

Next week I am taking some time to finish up some fun projects around my home. A few weeks ago I ordered this cotton shower curtain from West Elm so I could make curtains for my family room.

{obviously I am having some love affair with yellow and white right now}

 I am hoping they come in the mail this week so I can make them and show you soon!
