What a week! I haven't crossed everything off my list to be painted, but I did come close.

My latest piece might be one of my all time favorites. I want to keep this one sooo badly but I would have to redecorate my entire living and dining room to keep it, so off it goes to the store.

The bones of this dresser are fantastic. The serpentine shape is probably an all time favorite of mine, it is so sassy. I thought this gal was begging to be dressed up in a springtime color.

{before- ugly I know!!!}

I went right over the brown base color {I did do a little sanding first} with a paint by Benjamin Moore in Aura. Oh, how I love this paint. The quart was very very spendy but it went on like butter in two coats and it is so strong I don't need to seal it with a poly or wax.

I did a little distressing and added my favorite knobs.

Oh I just love this gal. Darn it! I want to keep her.

  2. Love the color! What is the BM paint used on this? Is it their Metal and wood paint?

  3. LOVE plus!! Benjamin Moore paint is awesome. I didn't realize it was that easy to use over existing paint or finish, though..?? Are those beautiful knobs you use a trade secret? I'm so coveting them too. I don't think I could bear to part with that beautiful piece of furniture!

  4. I should have explained that the Aura paint has the primer built into it. It is a latex paint for wood and it takes a while to cure because it is such a heavy duty paint. If you were to paint over something with a heavy stain, high sheen, or something other than wood, I would still use a bonding primer with this paint. I could tell from looking at my piece before that all I needed was the paint because of the porousness of the wood. I have tried ALOT of paint with primer built in to it {like Behr and Martha Stewart-did not work well like the BM Aura}. The BM Advanced paint is supposed to be amazing too-I haven't tried it yet. You could use this paint on something other than furniture put it is super expensive {around $60 a gallon}.

  5. Thanks for the info! We had our living area painted a year ago with Benjamin Moore, not even the Aura line, and I'd recommend anyone look into Ben Moore. It sounds so expensive, but it actually took very little paint to cover our living room, dining room, hall, and entry. Works beautifully, the painters love it, the colors are wonderful and it does a gorgeous job. In the long run, the cost difference doesn't amount to much. P.S. If I were local, I'd make a beeline to your shop. :)
