I am still on vacation, but that doesn't mean I don't have time took search listings for beautiful homes. This historic home for sale is in the Capital Hill neighborhood of Seattle. I chose this for fhf because the home is very traditional, but has been decorated in a very eclectic way, which I adore.
The listing can be found here.
The description:
An architectural landmark, this classic 1920 North Capitol Hill mansion recalls the richness & sophistication of another era. The stately presence, gabled slate roof, handsome covered entry, large in-city lot & spectacular gardens make this a home passersby stop to admire. The warm, inviting interior showcases exquisite walnut woodwork, original hardwoods & floor-to-ceiling bookcases. Grand spaces give way to lovely light-filled rooms overlooking a secluded garden patio. A world unto itself!
The color story of the home is not what I normally gravitate toward. This home has a more earthy feel, but I love it, and it works great in this space.
My top four favorite details of this home are:
*The kitchen is almost a country kitchen in this mansion of a home. I like that it seems warm, inviting, and informal in such a grand home. Somewhat unexpected.
*How great is the black painted molding and trim against the white walls of the living room?!!
*The farmhouse table in the formal dining room is fabulous.
*There are no window treatments. If you can pull this off because of not needing window treatments for privacy- do it. I took my heavy curtains down six months ago and my living space seems so much lighter and I am not stuck with decorating around the curtains.
I am still in KC visiting family for a few more days. I am missing my home, husband and cats. I was told by my husband that I got a package while I have been gone....I think it is the chalk paint and dark wax I ordered, exciting!
Wow, what a lovely house. I love how historically rich it is. That bedroom with the fireplace? Oh how dreamy.
ReplyDeleteThe home you featured today is lovely! I also love how they included a farmhouse table in the dining room~ it offsets the formality, and lends even more character to the space. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having fun visiting with family! I know what you mean about missing home after a while, though! I feel the same way toward the end of vacations. I hope you are staying cool, too~ 105 degrees is hot! {Way hotter than it typically gets here in the Seattle area!}
Have a good night, and a safe trip home! :)
Blessings,
Jenni
Stunning home thanks for sharing! Enjoy your time with family!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the baseboard trim in the house you posted.
ReplyDeleteMy son lived in Seattle a few years ago and we used to stay at an inn on Capitol Hill. I loved walking around all/any part of that area. I miss having him live there, a great place to vacation.
