Hello! Boy the last few days have been busy. I have been spending most of my time down at the shop and I am wiped out when I get home.

I did find a great house on the MLS this week. I was going buy this home if I won the Megamillions but, sadly I did not win.

I think this house is STUNNING! Such a classic beauty.

I am taking it easy tonight and hope to have Shop Modern Cottage updated tomorrow. I took all my pictures yesterday down at the shop but forgot my camera cord.
Hope ya'll are having a good weekend!

b u y i n g   d a y

Today was a good day.
The sun was out. I met some of the other shop girls for lunch and I spent all day shopping for the store.

This is what my entryway looks like most of the time these days. I like painting at home instead of the shop and my home studio is cold and messy. So now my house is messy but at least it is warm to paint in!
After I got home from shopping, I picked up up the kids and did some painting outside while they rode bikes.
My poor grass, it needs a hair cut. But at least it isn't raining!
I already know what I am going to do to transform this chair and this table. You won't recognize either after I am done with them.
The chair will be painted either white or orange with this fabric.

Decorative pillow covers set of two 20 x 20 blue brown chevron

And the cart will be yellow with this fabric on top with glass covering it.

I found this wood lamp. I love it and I am keeping it. The shade needs some help though.

Tucker got outside yesterday. He now things he is a big boy and can play outside. He sits and meows at the door to be let out. I think he is my baby and isn't ready to venture out into the big world.
Random thing to talk about but he was sitting by me while I was photographing so I thought I would snap of picture of him too.

My favorite finds of the day are these matching dressers. I know I want to paint them the same color but I can't decide if I should paint them.

Graphite

or
Duck Egg
{both images come from here}

The graphite is actually a dark dark grey-brown and I am leaning toward using duck egg because I have so much grey in the shop right now.

Guess what I am doing tomorrow? More buying!
I am heading up to Seattle to pick up more business cards, merchandise labels, and to have lunch with my good friend Michelle. I figured I would hit some stores on the way up there and the way back.

n e w   i n   t h e    s h o p

I spent ALL day at the shop. Really, all day,  I just got home at 8pm. Two new vendors {and the last two we are taking} moved in today {more on that later} so I had fun chatting with them while I reinvented my own space.

I painted another smokey grey side table. Sorry, bad picture for some reason.

She sort of matches the one pictured beside her below. I think these should go to the same home.
I can't tell you how many people have almost bought my two tiered smokey grey table. I think it is waiting for the right home.

Below is another, larger, side table painted high gloss grey and distressed.
This table is beautiful in person and I wish I had a space for it in my own home.

I added a ton more mirrors. These seem to be good sellers for me.

I added four new vintage doors to my space. I really want to define my little shop from the other shops in our little vintage market.
The patina on the blue door below is beautiful.

I hung a new chalkboard sign above the desk with thanks from Holly {new vendor, I can't wait to introduce you to her}.

You can also see the other doors I added to define my space. The black and white fabric {hanging behind one door} came from the front door of my home. I have a plan to change mine at home, so I swiped it today.

Oh, and do you see that sweet footstool in front of the grey magazine stand? That is new, I finished that this week.

Below is the space right behind mine which will be Kennesha's in a bit, but for now we have this fantastic sofa to fill the space. that Erin scored today. Doesn't it remind you of the Friends sofa? It is for the shop so we can hangout and pretend we are on Friends. Behind it are more doors I bought this week.

The space is really coming together and us girls are having a blast. Every week the shop looks bigger, better, and different with more fantastic vintage pieces.
From now on I am going to be open Fridays 10a-2pm, as well as Saturdays noon-4pm starting next week.

m o d e r n   c o t t a g e   s t a l k   t h e   m l s

Sorry for the lack of posts this week friends. I am in the middle of about 100 projects but I really haven't finished many so I haven't had much to share. But just wait until those 100 projects are done!

I was down at the store today with both Crystal and Erin and all the babies {Crystal has two girls and Erin has twins boys}. Erin set up a playpen area so the boys could play while she painted. I should have taken a picture.

We have two more vendors moving in Friday. I will be at the shop from 930a-noon if you feel like dropping by the store while I am there. Soon I will be open regularly on Friday afternoons, but I am still trying to build a good inventory so I am not working all week just to replace what I sold the week before.

One new vendor does beautiful painted furniture with a somewhat french provincial feel and the other has a mid-century vibe and will have vintage clothes {love!}. I have really  been wanting vintage clothing in the store. I will have more info about the new gals this week! We are at max capacity for vendors now. The store really has something for everyone.

Tonight I have to upholster two chairs, a bench and paint a table. I wanted to take a break from working and let you know I am here and I haven't forgotten about  you!

Should we check out a new house on the mls?

I love that this house is so pulled together and doesn't look staged and has a cool mix of modern and vintage.

I have one more question for you all. Would you want me to do a little blog post every other day with the random stuff I am doing or wait until I have more finished projects?

f r i d a y   w r a p u p

Sorry for my lack of post this week. It is for two reasons.
First being, I have been working my tail off to restock the store. Last Saturday I thought I was going to have a slow day at the store but ended up selling a lot of my inventory. So this week I scrambled to shop, paint, restock.

The second reason I have been neglecting the blog is this, I have bronchitis. I found out this morning.
I have been working so hard that I really ignored the bad cold that I had a few weeks ago was getting worse and at night I had no energy, coughing a lot, and chest pain. I got some meds so I should be on the mend soon.

Want to see what I put in the shop today?

The coolest thing that was added this week was a new checkout counter. Kennesha spotted this on Craigslist. I got a great deal on it and they delivered it. With me and four other mini vintage shops in the same space , the little green table was too small for all of us to check everyone out at the same time.

Green farmhouse table $175
Yellow bench $50

I am over at Oak Ridge Revival today talking about how I made this tray table {$145}.

I made a screen out of two doors from a vintage canning shelf, painted them with chalkboard paint and attempted some art :). My son thinks my bird {in the nest-look closely} looks like a duck and he is right.

Blue desk is in the shop and now for sale $155

A few new knick knacks.

I am finishing up a couple more chairs to bring tomorrow. Tonight I am headed over to Erin's for a girl's dinner party with Devon. Devon is coming over to my house first so I probably should get to cleaning my messy nest.

Shop open tomorrow noon to four.

m a k e o v e  r    m o n d a y

A new one for the shop! I still need to add another coat of wax and line the drawers but I adore this desk.
{I like it so much on my stair landing I am not sure if I want to give it up!}

The color is Covington Blue, by Benjamin Moore {My favorite paint and color}. I had a gallon of this color in Aura {primer plus paint}.

I did a simple distressing on this piece, only on the edges.

Wouldn't it be a pretty hall or sofa table?

Look for this desk in my Friday, new in the shop post.

t h i s    w e e k   i n    t h e    s h o p

I only have a few new items in the shop this week. I did a lot of buying and even more time with my kids so I have a long 'to do list' for next week.

The store is at least four times bigger than it was when I opened a month ago. Tonight I am meeting the other girls {except Kennesha-but we spent the day together} at the shop to do some transforming of the space. We are creating mini shops within the big space. Not everything will be done tonight, but over the next few weeks. It is sort of the theme of my week. I have so much to do and I have started over ten projects but I haven't finished much.

I might shoot some pictures of the store tonight to share with you tomorrow. Actually, you should just come to the store and check it out yourself!!!
